NK80/35, SKF, Needle Roller Bearing, Machined Type, Without Inner Ring
Limiting Speed: 5,600
SKF needle roller bearings are bearings with cylindrical rollers that are small in diameter relative to their length. The ends of the rollers are relieved slightly to modify the line contact between the rollers and raceways. This prevents stress peaks at the roller ends to extend bearing service life. Needle roller bearings have a high load carrying capacity. Therefore they are extremely suitable for bearing arrangements where radial space is limited.
Needle roller bearings without an inner ring are an excellent choice for compact bearing arrangements if the shaft can be hardened and ground. Eliminating the need for a seperate inner ring enables a larger shaft diameter and a stiffer bearing arrangement. Axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing is only limited by the width of the raceway of the shaft. By machining the shaft raceways to the appropriate dimentional and geometrical accuracy, it is possible to obtain bearing arrangements with heightened running accuracy.
Needle bearings are heavily used in automobile components such as rocker arm pivots, pumps, compressors and transmissions. The drive shaft of a rear-wheel drive vehicle typically has at least eight needle bearings (four in each U joint) and often more if it is particularly long, or operates on steep slopes.
